Installing a License File

Installing a License File

The following information is also available in the User Manual, located here.

The SC4415 Scout supports user upgrades of the license file.

Before starting you will need to have a terminal program that is capable of sending files over ZMODEM. We use TeraTerm, however any ZMODEM capable terminal will work. Once you've established a terminal session with Scout, follow these steps:
  1. Download the license files to a known directory
  2. Plug in the SC4415 device and connect to it via your terminal.
  3. Without changing modes, (remaining in "boot" mode) enter the command "update 2". Scout will enter license update mode for 60 seconds.
  4. Open the ZMODEM function of your terminal.
  5. Navigate to the directory where you saved the license file.
  6. Select the correct license file for the serial number of the unit you are updating. Incorrect licenses will be rejected by Scout.
  7. Transfer the license file.
  8. Once the transfer is complete the update will complete quickly (<1 second). Ensure that the unit does not lose power during the update.
License updates do not require a reboot to take effect. Check that the correct features are enabled by entering the "license" command, and by changing modes.
